I use the Monero CLI wallet but I made a bit of a mistake. I had the password copied from my password manager and was going to type it in to make the transfer as normal. The problem was that I pasted it and then hit return and then realised I had pasted in a non-password field.

I run my own private node so I'm hoping that it won't cause any issues but what do you think I should do? Should I just create a new wallet from scratch to make sure things are safe or do I not need to worry about this?

Depends on which field did you enter, if we assume your password is stolen you're still safe.

Wallet password is used for encrypting your wallet file. In order to someone access your wallet they need your;

  • Wallet file and your password.
  • or private wallet keys
  • or mnemonic seed
