Ability to avoid storing unnecessary data about prior transactions. For example one could use pruning to disable storing older transaction signatures on disk once they are verified. Archive nodes could be used to store the signatures disabled in the pruning branch.

Would signature aggregation as an alternative to pruning be possible / desirable with Monero?
As far as I understand it, it's a way to compress hundreds of tx into a single hash.
